What the transfer includes
The car and its driver for the run between the terminal and your address, at a fixed fare per car rather than a meter. Every fare is confirmed in writing before the car is dispatched.
Where and how the driver meets you, and how a delayed landing is handled, are worth asking when you book: what is included is confirmed in writing with the fare, before the car is dispatched. Send the flight number with the booking, and the exact street address rather than the district.
The drive is shorter than you might expect
Tbilisi International (TBS) is 17 kilometres southeast of the city centre. The airport puts the drive at 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
A guest off a long-haul flight may expect a Heathrow-style hour. It is worth setting the lower expectation in your own communication, because the car reaching the hotel sooner than promised reflects well on whoever made the booking.
The terminal expansion now under way, which the operator, TAV Airports, plans to complete before the 2028 IATA season, raises capacity. It does not move the airport, and it will not change these times.
Which car, and what it costs
The S-Class carries up to three guests and suits most transfers. The V-Class carries up to seven, which makes it the car for families and arriving groups. Either Maybach, the W223 saloon or the EQS 680 SUV, is the flagship choice, also up to three guests.
Airport transfer is a flat fare per car, each way, not a meter. It is the same fare in either direction between TBS and any address in Tbilisi.
Early-morning and late-night flights
The first question worth asking is what time the flight actually lands or departs, because two windows behave differently from the rest of the day.
Pickups before 7am and departures before 9am are the tightest slots of the day. The road is empty, so the drive is short, but that also means the buffer disappears the moment anything goes wrong. For a 5am departure, book well ahead rather than the evening before, and put the exact pickup time on the booking.
Arrivals after 11pm are the second-tightest. The terminal is quiet and baggage takes about as long as it does at midday, but a delay at that hour lands on a tired guest with no margin left. That is the arrival where the flight number on the booking matters most.
When the flight is late
Send the flight number with the booking, not just a landing time. How a delay is handled, and whether it changes the fare, is worth asking when you book; the answer comes back in writing with the fare.
A request for a "flexible pickup window" hides two different jobs. One is a guest with a confirmed flight who simply wants the car there whenever they clear customs: that needs the flight number on the booking, not flexibility. The other is a guest whose plans are genuinely unsettled and who might land inside a four-hour window: that is a different booking, and it should be described as one when you book. Blurring the two means overpaying for the first or being disappointed by the second.
VIP arrivals, and when it is not worth it
Tbilisi International sells its own Meet and Greet service, booked with the airport in advance. On arrival a hostess meets the guest at the gate and walks them to the baggage hall, porters take the bags, and the airport's agents stay with the guest until they are in the car. On departure it adds an escort to check-in, the fast-track lane at security and a lounge.
Many arrivals do not need it. It earns its fee on ultra-tight connections, on late-night arrivals where every minute saved is sleep, on ceremonial arrivals where a party needs to leave as one group, and where privacy rather than time is the point.
It does not pay back on routine business travel, at four in the afternoon on a quiet Tuesday, or when the delay is the baggage carousel rather than the passport queue: an escort does not bring checked bags out any faster. Work out which of those a given arrival is before booking it.
Long layovers
Tbilisi is one of the few airports where a long connection can hold a real visit rather than a corridor walk. The arithmetic is what gets misjudged: an eight-hour gap is not eight hours in the city.
Subtract two hours for the outbound, because the airport asks passengers to arrive 120 minutes before departure, then 30 minutes for deplaning and customs and 45 for the round trip by road. An eight-hour layover leaves roughly four hours and forty-five minutes on the ground. Six hours leaves 2:45. Four hours leaves 45 minutes, which is a coffee near the terminal, not a visit.
With a five- or six-hour layover, a single destination done properly is the right shape. Beyond eight, a Mtskheta half-day fits with margin. Kazbegi does not fit any layover, and the honest answer to that request is no.
How concierges book it
For business travellers on repeating routes, the same car class booked each time, at the published fixed fare; anything agreed once for repeated trips is a question to ask in writing.
For one-off VIP arrivals, a brief a day ahead: flight number, guest name, the hotel's name and its exact street address, and return dates if known. Hotel names in Tbilisi are a genuine failure point: Stamba and Rooms are Adjara properties sitting side by side in the same complex and are easily confused. Ask when you book how the guest and the driver will reach each other on the day.
The fare is confirmed in writing before the car is dispatched; settle how it is paid at the same time, so nothing about money is left to the arrivals hall.

Common questions
How far is Tbilisi airport from the city centre?
17 kilometres southeast. The airport puts the drive at twenty to thirty minutes, depending on traffic.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Send the flight number with the booking. How a delay is handled, and whether it changes the fare, is worth asking when you book: what is included is confirmed in writing with the fare, before the car is dispatched.
How much is a transfer from Tbilisi airport?
A flat 350 ₾ in the V-Class for up to seven guests, 500 ₾ in the S-Class, and 750 ₾ in either Maybach. The fare is per car, each way, and is confirmed in writing before the car is dispatched.
Will the driver meet me inside the terminal?

Can you book the VIP arrivals service?
The airport sells its own Meet and Greet service, and it is booked with the airport, in advance. Mention it when you book the car.
Do you cover Kutaisi and Batumi airports?
Yes. Both are a day's driving there and back rather than a city transfer, so they are priced at the day rate, and a longer day is quoted with the extra hours already included. Kutaisi is about three and a half hours from Tbilisi, Batumi further still.
